Starting on October 1, the art film program “A matter of perception” is shown in the ticket hall at Skanstull subway station.
The program consists of four parts and will be shown until the end of September 2020. The works of five Swedish and international artists have been put together by curator Nilo Amlashi in collaboration with SL's art council. In the films, different aspects of how we look at society and the world are explored.
In different ways, the artists show how complex we are as people in our subjective but also selective view of the world. It is a game with our perception and how we look at historical events versus modernity, development and the future, as well as how our coexistence and contemporary times are perceived in different parts of the world.
During the period 1 October - 31 December, Mounir Fatmi's film Modern Times, a History of the Machine from 2010 is shown.
Mounir Fatmi's artistic focus is based on three areas: architecture, language and the machine. Through the interaction between the three elements of Arabic calligraphy, contemporary art and the written language in Modern Times, a History of the Machine, the viewer's ability to associate symbols with each other is tested.
In line with Charlie Chaplin's film Modern Times (1936), there are also associations with the industrial revolution and thoughts about the future and machine society.
