L'immigré n'a pas d'image
La question de l’image du quartier constitue le point central d’Ovalprojet. Pourquoi cette image est-elle forcément restrictive, marquée par des clichés médiatiques et culturels ?
En effet, le quartier est souvent montré à la télévision pour illustrer des sujets sur la violence, l’insécurité, la délinquance... Face à ce traitement télévisuel, les habitants se sentent d’une certaine manière trahis car ils ressentent intimement et dans leur vie quotidienne les conséquences indirectes de ce traitement médiatique. Ils ne se reconnaissent pas dans cette télévision. Beaucoup se tournent alors vers les chaînes de leur pays d’origine et des pays culturellement proches qu’ils captent via les paraboles. Mais là aussi, ils ne se retrouvent pas dans ces télés qui ne traitent pas non plus de leur situation d’immigré. En fait, je pense que l’immigré n’a pas d’image. Ni la perception médiatique du pays d’accueil ni celle du pays d’origine ne le représente réellement.
Placer le quartier au centre du monde
Le quartier n’est pas un pays ni une ville, le quartier ne peut être qu’un projet. Ainsi, cette idée du projet pousse à la construction et non au contraire.
Envisager ce quartier comme une plate-forme de création consiste à le placer au centre du monde pour en faire le point de rencontre entre les 96 nationalités qui le peuplent. Cela permet ainsi d’ouvrir le local vers l’international.
Diffuser là-bas pour être vu ici
L’objectif ici est la création et la diffusion des images, faire partie de cette boucle qui relie la parabole à la télévision du pays d’origine. Diffuser là-bas pour être vu ici. C’est une tentative de concevoir un système d'images qui circulent, des images destinées à la communauté des immigrés installés en Europe ou ailleurs et qui par le biais des paraboles reçoit les images en provenance de leurs propre pays. Cela permet d’expérimenter et d’explorer de nombreuses problématiques, dons la notion de l’exil, de la relation de l’individu et du groupe, de "l’image de l’immigré" ainsi que "l’image immigrée".

The immigrant does not have an image
The question of the image of the district is the crux of Ovalprojet. Why is this image inevitably restrictive, marked by media and cultural stereotypes?
Actually, the district is often shown on television in order to illustrate reports on violence, insecurity, delinquency… Faced with this image reflected by television, the inhabitants feel betrayed in a certain way because they feel in an intimate manner and in their everyday life the indirect effects of such media coverage. They don't recognize themselves in this television. Many turn to the channels broadcast from their country of origin and from countries which are close from a cultural point of view; they use satellite dishes to pick up these channels. But they don't recognize themselves either in these foreign channels for the latter do not deal with their situation as immigrants. In fact, I think that the immigrant does not have an image. Neither the media processing of the host country nor that of the country of origin really represents what he/she is.
Setting the district in the centre of the world
A district is neither a country nor a city, a district can only be a project. Thus, this idea of project leads to construction and not the opposite.
Considering this district as a platform for creation boils down to placing it in the centre of the world in order to turn it into the meeting point of the 96 nationalities of its population. It is thus possible to turn something local into something international.

The goal here is the creation and broadcasting of images so as to be part of this loop which connects the satellite dish to the television of the country of origin. Broadcasting from over there in order to be watched here. It is an attempt to create a system of images which circulate, images intended for the community of immigrants in Europe or elsewhere, a community that manages to pick up the images coming from their own country thanks to satellite dishes. Such a process makes it possible to test and explore many sets of problems, among which are the notion of exile and the relation of the individual to the group, "the image of the immigrant" as well "the immigrant image"
