"Ce catalogue a été réalisé à l'occasion de l'exposition « Linguaggi Costituenti » de l'artiste marocain mounir fatmi, présentée à la Fondazione Collegio San Carlo de Modène, du 11 février au 8 avril 2011.
Le choix du concept de « constitution », identifié par la Fondation San Carlo comme thème de son projet annuel, invite à une réflexion sur les conséquences des transformations structurelles qui ont bouleversé les principes de la vie en communauté aux niveaux communautaire, national et mondial au cours des dernières décennies.
La sélection des quatre vidéos, créées entre 1999 et 2010 par l'artiste mounir fatmi (Tanger, 1970, résidant actuellement à Paris), aborde des points clés d'une telle analyse, à commencer par la redéfinition du tissu social – le corps même de la société civile – qui trouve son expression dans la vidéo « Les autres sont les autres ».
La question « Qui sont les autres ? » adressée à diverses personnes dans les rues de Paris, invite à s'interroger sur le concept d'altérité mais conduit aussi à une redéfinition d'un « nous », d'une communauté que la participation des interviewés de tous âges, genres, religions ou ethnies révèle de plus en plus riche de différences."

"This catalogue was made on the occasion of the exhibition, Linguaggi Costituenti by Moroccan artist mounir fatmi, at Fondazione Collegio San Carlo, Modena, from February 11 to April 08, 2011.
The choice of the concept of "constitution," identified by the San Carlo Foundation as the theme of its annual project, prompts a reflection on the consequences of the structural transformations that have changed the principles of communal living at the community, national, and global levels in recent decades.
The selection of the four videos, created between 1999 and 2010 by artist mounir fatmi (Tangier, 1970, now residing in Paris), touches on key points of such an analysis, starting with the redefinition of the social fabric—the very body of civil society—which finds expression in the video The others are the others.
The question "who are the others?" addressed to various people on the streets of Paris prompts an inquiry into the concept of otherness but also leads to a redefinition of a "we," a community that the participation of the interviewees of all ages, genders, religions, or ethnicities reveals to be increasingly rich in differences."
