Lombard-Freid Projects est heureux de présenter Fuck Architects : Chapitre 1, la première exposition personnelle de Mounir Fatmi à New York.
« Mon père a perdu toutes ses dents, maintenant je peux le mordre ». C'est avec cette phrase et une série de sauts de cheval que Mounir Fatmi a physiquement bloqué l'entrée de l'exposition Africa Remix au Centre Georges Pompidou à Paris en 2005.
Le public a été contraint de passer à travers les barres de la sculpture pour accéder à l'exposition. Pour le spectateur, le problème n'était plus de savoir comment voir une œuvre d'art, mais comment en sortir. Ainsi, on commence à comprendre que malgré son côté esthétique, le travail de Mounir Fatmi fonctionne souvent comme un piège.
Pour sa première exposition à la galerie, Fatmi présente plusieurs nouvelles œuvres sous le titre Fuck Architects : Chapitre 1. Ce projet fonctionne comme un livre composé de trois chapitres avec NY comme site inaugural. La deuxième partie sera présentée dans l'exposition Le Creux de l'Enfer au Centre d'Art Contemporain de Thiers (France) et le troisième et dernier chapitre sera exposé à la Biennale de La Havane 2008 (Cuba).

"Lombard-Freid Projects is pleased to present Fuck Architects: Chapter 1, mounir fatmi's premier solo exhibition in New York.
"My father has lost all his teeth, now I can bite him." It was with this phrase and a series of horse jumps, that mounir fatmi physically blocked the entryway to the Africa Remix exhibition at the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris in 2005.
The public was forced to pass through the bars of the sculpture in order to reach the exhibition. For the viewer, the problem was no longer how to see an artwork, but how to leave it. Thus one begins to understand that despite its aesthetic side, the work of mounir fatmi often functions like a trap.
For his debut show at the gallery, fatmi presents several new works under the title, Fuck Architects: Chapter 1. This project functions as a book comprised of three chapters with NY as its inaugural site. The second installment will be shown in the exhibition Le Creux de l'Enfer at the Center of Contemporary Art in Thiers (France) and the third and final chapter will be exhibited in the 2008 Havana Biennial (Cuba)."
